I
don't know about you but I was always told as a kid, "Eat your carrots, they're good for your eyes!" I'll bet Mom never knew how much the carotenoids in carrots could help in an anti aging program for your eyes.
Researchers have recently discovered that carotenoids and antioxidants can help with age-related macular degeneration. In a study of similar age patients, the group given antioxidants and carotenoid supplements had significant improvement in certain areas than the group that did not. It should be noted that the group did not have advanced AMD.
Carotenoids, if you remember, are abundant in carrots, sweet potatoes, greens (such as spinach and kale) and tomatoes. They provide a source of vitamin A and are also antioxidants. For best results, don't overcook your vegetables.
